Karen Steenekamp is professional graphic designer — she is passionate about print design and her career.

Karen’s specialty is corporate identity/branding (logo, packaging, etc.). Karen’s formula for success is keeping her client’s design needs in focus and helping her clients succeed. Karen graduated from college in 1987 with a degree in commercial art. She studied both graphic design and fine art at Wesleyan University, Paier College of Art, Sacred Heart University, and other small venue art programs. Karen grew up in Connecticut, 45 miles from New York City. Days after she graduated from college, Karen landed several freelance accounts — she was thrilled to be working on world-renown brands, such as Mott’s, Cadbury Schweppes, Canada Dry, Nestlé, First Brands, Pitney Bowes, Citicorp, Pepsi and General Foods. In 1992, Karen moved to Boulder, Colorado, where she freelanced for Celestial Seasonings, Google, Cat Eye, and many smaller businesses, as well as a number of Boulder/Denver-based advertising agencies. In May, 2007, Karen started doing business as Open Design, LLC — a unique graphic design studio with a thoughtful approach. When not designing, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband. Her other interests include fine art painting, interior design, art collecting, hiking, biking, snowboarding, cooking, and supporting the sustainable food movement.
